Hank Malone

Red Planet

i just saw "live" tv shots from mars
maybe an hour ago, in my bedroom
lying there, next to my woman,
with the air-conditioner buzzing at 7:30 am
at the bottom of the tv screen it said
LIVE FROM THE PLANET MARS
i picked up my clothes and went to work anyway.

HANK MALONE read poetry onstage with cleveland legend, d.a. levy, in the late 1960's, and has been writing and publishing ever since. Malone also nursed Charles Bukowski through the murderous bowels of many college -class readings in the 1970's, dutifully trotting behind The Great Man with a 12-pack of Bud.
